Ancient Egyptian scribes’ work left its mark on their skeletons

The well-known meteorologist Lajda Porja has made a detailed forecast for the weather in September, warning that the high temperatures that have dominated the summer will continue to accompany us during this month. In a direct link to Euronews Albania, Porja emphasized that the temperatures during this month will reach up to 36 degrees Celsius, creating a climatic situation that is unusual for the autumn season. She underlined that these temperatures are not at all typical for this time of the year, where lower temperatures and a noticeable drop in the thermometer are usually expected. Porja explained that we will have an early September with a summer-like atmosphere, hinting that the seasonal change will be delayed.

“We are officially in autumn although we will continue with the atmosphere of summer. We are not at all in typical autumn temperatures. I can say that in the first 15 days of this month the temperatures will rise up to 36 degrees. On the coastline the temperatures will go to 33 or 34 degrees,” she said. Furthermore, Porja Meteorology explained that this unusual situation will be more sensitive in coastal areas, where temperatures are expected to be higher than in other parts of the country. Although rainfall is expected to be present during the month, it will be concentrated mainly in the interior of the territory, while the coast will experience only light and isolated rainfall.

“Thursday is expected to rain, but on the coast there will be only a few drops of rain. Let’s say that autumn has not yet arrived,” she added, hinting that the autumn season, which is usually characterized by a decrease in temperatures and more frequent rains, it will not feel like this at least during the first part of September. Porja further explained that the coming weeks will be characterized by an alternation of warm and sunny days with brief periods of cloudiness and light rain. “A week of high temperatures is predicted, a week of sunshine, with cloudiness being more visible in the second part of the day,” she said, giving a clearer picture of what is expected to happen next.

These forecasts have aroused great interest, especially for sectors that depend on climatic conditions, such as agriculture and tourism. As for tourists who are planning to visit the coastal areas in September, this news is definitely welcome, as they will still have the opportunity to enjoy warm and sunny days, although autumn has officially arrived. Meanwhile, for farmers, especially those who depend on rainfall for their crops, this situation presents a special challenge. With little rainfall and high temperatures, some may face difficulties in providing adequate watering for their plants.

At the end of the forecast, Porja appealed for increased caution, especially for those who are more sensitive to high temperatures, including the elderly and children. She advised caution in sun exposure, especially during peak hours of the day, and taking the necessary precautions to ensure adequate hydration. In summary, although September has always been seen as a smooth transition month between summer and autumn, this year it looks like it will surprise us with a special mix of both seasons. While many are still associated with the summer vibe, it’s clear that nature has something different planned for us this month. How long this unusual situation will last and what impact it will have on the daily life of Albanians remains to be seen.
